Admission to the Masters programmes

Riga Graduate School of Law (RGSL) invites applicants for its Masters programmes. RGSL accepts highly qualified students, who are interested in the programmes offered, and who are eligible and qualified to undertake studies at Masters level. English is the study language at RGSL.

Entry requirements vary between the different programmes:

  • LL.M in International and European Law (one year academic and two-year professional programmes)
  • LL.M in Public International Law and Human Rights
  • LL.M in Transborder Commercial Law
  • LL.M in European Union Law and Policy
    All available to individuals with a Bachelor, Masters, or equivalent degree in law or related fields, on condition that basic knowledge in law and corresponding work experience is acquired
  • LL.M in Law and Finance
    Available to individuals with a Bachelor, Masters, or equivalent degree in law, business, finance, economics, or related fields

At least four years of undergraduate or combined with graduate studies are required for access to the one-year Masters programmes. At least three years of undergraduate studies are required for two-year Master programme.

Applicants must fill in an online application at apply.rgsl.edu.lv

Applicants should present the following documents:

  • Certified copies of diploma and diploma transcript with an English translation (if the diploma is issued outside Latvia),
  • Certificate of Proficiency in English – official results of TOEFL or IELTS not older than 3 years – the required minimum result is 550 points for TOEFL (for a computer test -213; Internet based test – 80) and 6.0 for IELTS. Applicants who have acquired higher education in the English language (or may prove comparable knowledge) are released from taking TOEFL or IELTS,
  • Passport copy,
  • Motivation letter which may also refer to relevant professional experience.

An application is considered complete only when the RGSL has received complete application package consisting of all listed documents. Students may be invited for an interview at the discretion of the Admissions Committee. Applicants from countries requiring a visa for Latvia are required to pay a Processing fee of 100 EUR (does not apply to applications from member states of the EU, countries of the European Economic Area and Swiss Confederation).
