RGSL grants

RGSL Student Excellence Award

To acknowledge the achievements of RGSL students, celebrate academic excellence and foster competition among students, RGSL has established the RGSL Student Excellence Scholarship for 2nd and 3rd year bachelor students with the highest grades in the previous study year. Eight Excellence Scholarships in form of 500 euro tuition fee waiver for the next semester are granted to two 2nd and two 3rd year students on the Law and Diplomacy programme and two 2nd year and two 3rd year students on the Law and Business study programme. 

Other RGSL tuition fee waivers

In academic year 2024/2025 RGSL offers 50% tuition fee waiver for the first academic year for two best bachelor programme applicants from Latvia (outside of Riga and Pieriga regions).

In academic year 2024/2025 RGSL offers 100% tuition fee waiver for the best applicant for "Public International Law and Human Rights" masters programme. 

The succesful graduates of RGSL Excellence school receive a 15% tuition fee waiver for the first year of bachelor studies. 

RGSL offers additional tuition fee waivers for RGSL employees, children of RGSL employees, orphans, persons with 1st or 2nd degree of disability, graduates of RGSL bachelor programmes and graduates of SSE Riga.

Early Admission Discount

All applicants – local and foreign – applying for the Bachelor and Masters studies by the Early Admission Deadline (15 April 2024) receive a 10% discount to the study fee for one academic year, if the application is in compliance to the Admission Rules. 

Student loans

Students from Latvia and EU citizens, permanently residing in Latvia, are entitled to apply for a state guaranteed study and student loans.

Study loan is for covering tuition fees at accredited higher education establishments in Latvia. 

If you're accepted at a Latvian higher education institution in an accredited and licensed study programme and have signed a contract with the educational establishment, apply for a state-guaranteed study loan. The loan can be applied for by students enrolled in both full-time and part-time study programmes.

•    Guarantee by a private individual is not required.
•    The amount of the study loan will not exceed the higher education institution's tuition fee. 
•    Can be granted for studies at one study programme at a time. 
•    The guarantee is provided by the financial institution ALTUM.

Student loan is for covering the day-to-day needs of the student. The maximum amount of loan for one student per month is 350 euros.

Latvian state scholarships for foreign students

In accordance with bilateral agreements on co-operation in education and science signed between Latvian government and several countries, Latvia offers scholarships to foreign students, researchers and teaching staff for studies, research and summer schools in Latvian higher education institutions. The scholarships are administered by the State Education Development Agency (Valsts izglītības attīstības aģentūra – VIAA).

The amount of scholarship for students of bachelor and masters programmes last year was 500 EUR per month.
