INSIDE RGSL / Alumni

Already seven years RGSL is opened to the world which brought changes in the geography of alumni. Most of them are from Latvia, but a group of Kosovars, activly involved in the formation of the new country are among our alumni as well as citizens of Albania, Baltic States, France, Georgia, Moldova, Germany, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and other countries, altogether from 16 countries of the world.

More than half of graduates are working in different areas of the private and banking sectors. Law firms, banks and international companies recruit RGSL graduates, because they have an excellent knowledge of EU and international law - and fluent legal English. Among the employers there are the largest Baltic law firms such as Sorainen Law Office, Lideika, Petrauskas, Valiūnas ir partneriai, Liepa, Skopiņa and Borenius, Attorneys-at-law, Law office Glimstedt & Partneri, Law Office Laus & Partners, bnt Klauberg & Krauklis, largest Baltic banks and international companies, such as Swedbank, Parex Bank, Aizkraukles Bank, Deloitte&Touche, Ernst & Young Baltic, MicroLink Latvia and others.

The public service sector - ministries, parliaments, government agencies and courts - is another beneficiary and employer of RGSL graduates.

Our graduates apply their knowledge of international law through their work in international institutions. Part of those working in the public sector s have qualified for administrative posts with the EU Commission, the European Court of Justice and European Parliament as well as for posts in such international organisations as the World Bank and the United Nations Office.

Several of our former students continue their relationship with RGSL in some other capacity - as lecturers or assistants to professors. A natural step for those who wish to pursue academic careers is to enroll in doctoral studies

One year of intensive study and socialising in a class with less than 100 students creates natural bonds and friendships, which last much longer than the studies themselves. Our growing alumni organisation serves as a useful network to all previous students in whatever professional career they choose after graduation. We are very keen on keeping in touch with our graduates and seeing where life will lead them, since we believe that there cannot be better ambassadors for the institution and its programme than those who have known it from the inside!
