RGSL Law Library

RGSL Library has developed into one of the top legal collections in Central and Eastern Europe, widely used and appreciated by a growing number of students and professionals. The library is open to the public, thus serving RGSL, other students, professors and members of the general public interested in law.

The library was opened to the public in 1997 with the financial support of Soros Foundation Latvia. In 1999 Soros Foundation Latvia donated the Law Library to the RGSL which had officially started operating.

The library collection allows access to more then 8000 recent law books, a collection of legal journals and yearbooks, as well as valuable legal databases, including Westlaw, HeinOnline, EBSCO, to name just a few. The ALISE online catalogue, listing the book collection and journal articles available at the library, is accessible both on site and by internet.

Currently the library is expanding its coverage to accommodate the new interdisciplinary programmes offered by RGSL. In addition, the SSE Riga library on business and economics in the same building is available for students, and inter-library relations have been established throughout Latvia and Europe.

Books and the journals may only be used at the library premises. The possibility exists to copy or print out necessary materials respecting use provisions set by the Library Regulations.

The library is an active member of the International Association of Law Libraries (IALL) and the Association of Latvian Academic Libraries (LATABA) and a founder member of the Consortium of Legal Resource Centres and Legal Information Specialists for Central and Eastern Europe.
