Programme details

Programme structure

The one year masters programme consists of 60 ECTS of theoretical study including 30 ECTS devoted to a thesis. Following successful completion, students are awarded a Masters degree (LL.M) in European Union Law and Policy.

Executive-style schedules allow ambitious students and professionals to combine work and studies.

The programme is also offered on a part-time basis, with the duration of the part-time programme dependent on a schedule tailored to the student. Usually, the duration of the study is doubled. For example, the one-year programme takes two years to complete if followed on a part-time basis.

Courses

Students have to complete six mandatory courses and two optional courses chosen either from the tracks of Public International and Human Rights Law, Transborder Commercial Law, and  Law and Finance as well as specialised courses and defend their master thesis at the end of the programme.

In addition to the selected mandatory courses, all students, regardless of the programme, have to complete a law foundation course as well as a course in legal research.

Foundation courses:

Introductory course
Legal Research

Mandatory courses:

Hear from our students

Most RGSL alumni, including me, like to say that RGSL teaches you a certain “way of thinking” rather than just basic academic knowledge. By using intellectually stimulating and practical approaches, this broad and open minded “way of thinking” has been the key quality RGSL has given me as a young professional.

Elvīra Krēķe

RGSL has undoubtedly helped me to develop, not only as a professional and in gaining the necessary academic knowledge to conquer the labor market, it has also provided me with personal skills which will benefit me throughout life. RGSL provides a variety of opportunities which help us to go beyond borders

The highlight of my experience are the relationships that I formed, especially with the professors who came from abroad. They opened up a window of opportunities… the open-minded and broad perspective was guided by the international professors.
