Guest lecture by the Governor of the Bank of Latvia Ilmārs Rimševičs about lessons from Latvia's internal adjustment took place on 3 April.
Ilmārs Rimševičs was appointed Governor of the Bank of Latvia in 2001. Afterwards, in 2007 he was appointed Governor of the Bank of Latvia for the second term of six years. Ilmārs Rimševičs is Alternate Governor for Latvia at the International Monetary Fund and a Member of the General Council of the European Central Bank.
In the guest lecture, he explained the causes of the economic crisis in Latvia. Also, Ilmārs Rimševičs showed why the internal adjustment was the only solution for Latvia at the onset of the crisis. Finally, he named a number of lessons from the Latvia's internal adjustment.
