Riga Graduate School of Law (RGSL) will launch the first session of the Intensive Programme in Law and Economics on 31 October 2016 with a group of 18 participants from Central Asia.
The Intensive Programme has a duration of six weeks and will include particiapnts from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The programme is financed by the Federal Government of the United States.
The objective the programme is to provide training that is useful with regard to relations between on the one hand the international community and the European Union and on the other hand Central Asia. The consortium partners include the European Institute for Public Administration (EIPA), the Latvian Institute for International Affairs, the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga and the University of Latvia.
The opening ceremony of the first session of the Intensive Programme in Law and Economics will take place on 31 October at 10:00 at RGSL. Opening speeches will be delivered by incoming Rector Professor Mel Kenny and representatives from the Embassy of the United States in Riga.
The official opening will take place on 1 November at 16:00 at RGSL. Speeches will be delivered by Deputy Chief of Mission Sharon Hudson-Dean (the Embassy of the United States in Riga) and the Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia Zanda Kalniņa-Lukaševica.
