Last week, the Journal of Private International Law published an article "Extension of Consumer Protection in EU Private International Law”, authored by Dr. Aleksandrs Fillers. The article analyses what Dr. Fillers argues the scope of consumer protection in European private international law. Dr. Fillers argues that European private international law offers different modes of protection for consumers and each mode of protection deserves its own specific scope. A uniform approach is inadequate. More generally, Dr. Fillers argue that several provisions restricting consumer protection do so without teleological justification.
