We are pleased to announce that Dr. Lauris Rasnačs has been appointed to the position of associate professor and has joined the faculty of the Riga Graduate School of Law.
Dr. Lauris Rasnačs earned his Doctor of Law degree in 2010 at the University of Latvia and served as a teacher, lecturer, and associate professor at the University of Latvia from 2008 until January 2026.
Dr. Lauris Rasnačs has served as a member of the Advisory Council of the Enterprise Register of the Republic of Latvia and the Permanent Working Group for the Drafting of Amendments to the Civil Procedure Law, and has also participated in working groups for the drafting of the Arbitration Law and amendments to the Arbitration Law.
Since December 2023, Dr. Lauris Rasnačs has been a member of the Governing Council of the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT).
Dr. Lauris Rasnačs is the author of several dozen scholarly articles on topics related to civil procedure and dispute resolution, competition law, intellectual property law, tort law, and commercial law. He is a co-author of books on Latvian contract and tort law published in the “International Encyclopedia of Laws” series by the international publisher Wolters Kluwer, as well as commentaries on the Constitution of the Republic of Latvia and the Civil Procedure Law.
In addition to his academic work, Dr. Lauris Rasnačs is a licensed attorney and head of a law firm, as well as a European and Latvian patent attorney in trademark matters.
Dr. Lauris Rasnačs is fluent in Latvian, English, German and Russian, and has a basic knowledge of French.
At Riga Graduate School of Law Dr. Lauris Rasnačs will teach courses on Civil Procedure Law and Competition Law.
