President of the European Court of Justice Koen Lenaerts visited Latvia on 24 October where he met with the President of Latvia Egils Levits, Judges of the Constitutional Court of Latvia and opened his book “On the Methods of Interpretation of the EU law” with a public seminar at the Riga Graduate School of Law (RGSL). He was accompanied by RGSL professor, Judge of the European Court of Justice and President of the Chamber Ineta Ziemele.
The book “On the Methods of Interpretation of the EU law” (“Eiropas Savienības Tiesas interpretācijas metodes”) by Prof. Lenaerts and Dr. Jose Antonio Gutierrez-Fons is published in Latvian by Tiesu Namu Aģentūra. The translation into Latvian is the first official translation of the book, followed by publications in Hungarian, Polish and Spanish later this year or in 2023.
The book was translated by Latvian lawyers working in the European institutions – translators’ team leader Ilona Čeiča, Kristaps Bērziņš, Inese Kurme, Ritvars Lācis, Aleksandrs Petrovs un Ainārs Freimanis. I.Čeiča, K.Bērziņš and A.Freimanis also spoke at the seminar discussing the challenges of the translation into Latvian of the EU law terminology.
