The Baltic Yearbook of International Law has reached an important milestone. In 2026, it will publish its 25th volume. Since 2001, and across 25 volumes, the Baltic Yearbook of International Law has brought the voices of scholars from the region on a wide range of themes in international and European law into the broader debate taking place in the international arena. Moreover, it is a unique source of selected and organised information on the state practice of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania over the past 25 years on all major issues of international law.
Volume 25 will address contemporary challenges in private international law and arbitration, reflecting the particular expertise of the Riga Graduate School of Law in this field and marking the year 2026 with two international conferences.
Scholars from across the Baltic States and beyond are invited to contribute to reflections on the challenges facing the core EU private international law instruments, as well as on the consequences of CJEU case law in the field of arbitration. These and many other themes within private international law will be the focus of this anniversary volume, edited in cooperation between the Riga Graduate School of Law and the publisher Brill/Nijhoff, under the general editorship of Professors Ineta Ziemele (Riga), Lauri Malksoo (Tartu), and Dainius Žalimas (Kaunas).
Articles published in the Yearbook are peer-reviewed and are indexed by the Scopus database. This gives a broader audience to the existing and future authors published in the Yearbook, as their articles are already and will be searchable in Scopus, one of the biggest bibliographic and citation databases of multidisciplinary scientific publications.
Articles should be submitted by 30 September 2026 to the Managing Editor of BYIL Ligita Gjortlere ligita.gjortlere(abols)rgsl.edu.lv.
Authors have to follow BYIL Guidelines for Authors.
