Riga Graduate School of Law, in cooperation with the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other partners, is planning to offer a new Diploma programme aimed at public officials in the Eastern neighbourhood of the European Union, which will be open also for representatives of civil society and academia.
The programme was announced by the Latvian Minster of Foreign Affairs, Edgars Rinkēvičs, in his presentation together with the Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Carl Bildt, at the seminar held by Stockholm School of Economics in Riga on 27 Match 2014 at the occasion of the visit of the Swedish King.
The objective is to provide a training programme that will be useful for relations between the European Union and its Eastern neighbourhood countries, and also to provide a distinctive element of knowledge transfer that is based on Latvian experience as a member of the European Union.
The programme is foreseen to focus on Law & Economics, so as to provide an understanding of the legal, economic and political aspects of Eastern neighbourhood relations in an interdisciplinary approach that is based on both teaching and practical experience.
The teaching will include intensive 2 week sessions in Riga that are to be separated by study visits and project weeks, with an overall programme duration of 12 weeks. Study visits are planned to include the European Union institutions in Bruxelles and Luxembourg, as well as various national authorities.
