All RGSL bachelor and master programmes offering law degree, as well as Law and Diplomacy programme (BA), have been ranked as top programmes by the team of international experts.
Latvia introduces a new accreditation system in the field of higher education, replacing accreditation of individual study programmes with accreditation of a study direction. In view of these changes, all study programmes run by higher education institutions in Latvia are reassessed by international teams of experts. The programmes are placed in one of the three groups - top, middle or low - with a corresponding impact on their future accreditation.
The major study direction at RGSL is law. All bachelor and master programmes in law offered by RGSL were placed in the top group. Altogether there were 33 law programmes evaluated that are carried out by 12 higher education institutions in Latvia. The joint expert report noted that in general the quality of legal education in Latvia is below European standards, but it pointed out RGSL, alongside with three other higher education institutions, as “prominent exceptions”.
The results of evaluation carried out for law study programmes were publicly announced on 13 April. On 22 May results for Law and Diplomacy bachelor programme that falls within a scope of social sciences were made public. The Law and Diplomacy programme received the top evaluation as well.
