On 1 March 2012 on the initiative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Edgars Rinkēvičs, Advisory Council of International and European Law independent experts (hereinafter - International Law Advisory Council) has been established. The Riga Graduate School of Law is represented therein by lecturer Ieva Miluna.
The main tasks of International Law Advisory Council would be to provide the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the consultative expert opinions on conceptual and problematic international and European law issues. This is the first initiative of this level in the history of Latvia, when recognized academics and practitioners of international and European law have been invited to provide their views on disputed international processes and issues. The establishment of this International Law Advisory Council on permanent basis will encourage strengthening and development of analysis of international legal system in Latvia, as well as raise the name of Latvia in international relations at a new level.
The International Law Advisory Council is formed also by Riga Graduate School of Law guest lecturers Kristīne Krūma, Mārtiņš Paparinskis and Ieva Kalniņa.
