The Annual Birini Seminar on Constitutional Law was held for the 13th time this year, bringing together constitutional law experts from 27 to 29 July. Amongst them was Latvian Constitutional Court judge Professor Ineta Ziemele, representing Riga Graduate School of Law (RGSL) on the theme “Global and European management challenges”. Also participating in the seminar from RGSL were Bachelor programme director Inese Druviete and PhD student Žanete Mikosa.
The future of the European Union (EU) was one of the most exciting subjects discussed. In particular, Ineta Ziemele observed that it is not clear if the form and institutions of the EU are sufficiently organized to deal with difficulties in Europe and worldwide.
All seminar topics will also be discussed at the annual European Society of International Law (ESIL) conference from 8 - 10 September 2016. The theme of the Conference: "How International Law Works in Times of Crisis".
