Roundtable discussion "‘Racism problem in Latvia" organized by the RGSL Student Association
To commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, the Student Association of the Riga Graduate School of Law (RGSL) is organizing a round table discussion. Respecting equality and human unity values, the particular aim of the discussion is to recognize prejudice, stereotypes and discrimination in our society.
This discussion forum allowed us to look at the issues from a legal perspective, to analyze judiciary practice, and to consider the perspective of personal experience, as well.
Guest lecturers were Lauren Monsein Rhodes (MSEd, MA PhD Candidate, Department of Anthropology, University of Washington), Anhelita Kamenska (Acting Director of the Latvian Center of Human Rights), George R. Steele (Human Rights activist), Waleed Gumaa (RGSL Law & Finance Programme director).
