From 19 to 20 March 2026, the Riga Graduate School of Law (RGSL) team participated in the Plesner Pre-Moot as part of their preparation for the 33rd Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna.
This year, RGSL is represented by Bachelor students Adrians Kupcovs, Elizabete Fiļipoviča, Marta Vitkovska, and Mārcis Krištopāns.
During the pre-moot, the RGSL team competed against strong teams from the University of Pavia (finalists of the Plesner Pre-Moot), the University of Lucerne, the University of Southern Denmark, the Institute of Law at Nirma University, and the University of Warsaw. The team participated in several rounds of oral arguments, representing both Claimant and Respondent positions.
The Plesner Pre-Moot served as the team’s final stage of preparation before participating in the Vis Moot in Vienna, providing an opportunity to refine their arguments and test their skills against high-level teams. Participation in the competition allowed the team to assess their readiness while identifying the final areas for improvement ahead of the decisive stage.
The competition was both challenging and rewarding. The team is grateful for the valuable lessons learned and for the insightful feedback provided by the arbitrators. They also greatly appreciated the excellent organization of the event, including the hospitality, meals, and even a memorable boat experience in Copenhagen arranged by Plesner.
The team expresses sincere gratitude to Loze & Partners and Rasnačs: Sworn Attorneys’ Office for their financial support in making this trip possible. Special thanks are also extended to the Riga Graduate School of Law and to the team’s coaches – Katrīna Salmgrieze and Aleksandrs Fillers, for their continuous guidance and support.
