Dr. Pietro Sullo has been appointed as the new Rector of Riga Graduate School of Law.
Dr. Sullo holds a PhD from the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa (Italy) and a master of laws from the University Federico II in Naples. Dr. Sullo fields of interest include Public international law, EU fundamental rights and asylum law, international dispute resolution, international human rights law, international criminal law and transitional justice, with particular emphasis on genocide.
Dr. Sullo has worked at the Max-Planck-Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg as a senior researcher in the Africa Team and as a coordinator of the International Research School on Retaliation, Mediation and Punishment. He was the Director of the European Master's Programme in Human Rights and Democratization (E.MA) in Venice from 2013 to 2015. Dr. Sullo has held the position of visiting lecturer in international dispute resolution at the King’s College, Dickson Poon School of Law, London and of visiting lecturer in political crimes and transitional justice at the University of Leuven. He has also worked for United Nations High Commissioner for Refugee, contributing to a study on the implementation of the EU Dublin III Regulation in Italy, for international NGOs and as a consultant on human rights and transitional justice for the Libya Constitution Drafting Assembly.
Dr. Sullo has carried out field research in Rwanda, Morocco, Guatemala, South Sudan and Italy and extensively published in the field of human rights, transitional justice and public international law.

Dr. Pietro Sullo has started his employment at RGSL on 2 September 2019.
