On 4 August, Cristina Gerasimov, the Deputy Prime Minister for the European Integration of Moldova, and Ieva Rācenāja, Director of Riga Graduate School of Law (RGSL), signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Bureau for European Integration of the Republic of Moldova and RGSL during Mrs. Gerasimov’s official visit to Latvia.
The parties agree to collaborate in establishing a comprehensive national training programme and academic centre aimed at enhancing the capabilities of public authorities in the Republic of Moldova. Drawing on RGSL’s experience in capacity-building projects, the parties will work together to establish the EU Academy in Moldova and provide interim training for Moldovan civil servants, local officials, and other professionals on EU law, governance, and public administration reforms, as well as promote academic and institutional links.
"For over ten years, Riga Graduate School of Law has been actively engaged in the design and implementation of international capacity-building initiatives. Over 70 Moldovan professionals have successfully completed various training programmes at RGSL, and we are happy to follow their contribution to driving reforms that promote principles of good governance and strengthen the rule of law in Moldova`s path towards EU integration. Today`s event marks an important milestone in our growing cooperation with our partners in Moldova. It establishes a broader framework for deepening bilateral cooperation and strengthening institutional capacity development toward EU membership," says RGSL Director Ieva Rācenāja.
