The Vis-Moot team of Riga Graduate School of Law took part in the DLA Piper Global Vis Pre-Moot 2026 held in Stockholm, Sweden, on 6 March, as part of their preparation for the 33rd Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna.
DLA Piper pre-moot brought together ten teams from universities across Europe and provided participants with the marvellous opportunity to practice oral pleadings before arbitral tribunals composed of experienced practitioners in international arbitration. The event allowed students to test their arguments in simulated arbitration hearings, receive valuable feedback from practitioners, and further refine their advocacy skills ahead of the final rounds in Vienna.
Representatives of the RGSL this year are Bachelor students, Adrians Kupcovs, Elizabete Fiļipoviča, Marta Vitkovska, and Mārcis Krištopāns. During the pre-moot, the team participated in several rounds of oral arguments, presenting both Claimant and Respondent positions. RGSL team competed against teams from other universities, such as University of Wroclaw, University of Copenhagen, and University of Bern.
In addition to the hearings, the event offered participants an opportunity to meet fellow Vis Moot teams and arbitration practitioners, exchange experiences, and build connections within the international arbitration community.
The team expresses sincere gratitude to the Riga Graduate School of Law, as well as the team's coaches – Katrīna Salmgrieze and Aleksandrs Fillers.
