The 2026 Latvian EU Law Association (ESTA) Conference “Migration as an Economic and Social Phenomenon in the Light of European Union Law” will be held at the Riga Graduate School of Law on 20 February 2026 at 9.30 a.m. in room W42.
The first part of the conference will be introduced by a discussion between Advocate General of the Court of Justice of the European Union Laila Medina and President of the Bank of Latvia Mārtiņš Kazāks, focusing on the impact of migration on education, the labor market, national development and security, based on data and forecasts.
The conference programme:
- preliminary readings on the causes of migration and the new European Union Pact on Migration and Asylum,
- a broad expert panel discussion on economic and educational migration in the European Union and Latvia,
- a discussion with the audience.
