On 12 June 2026, the Riga Graduate School of Law (RGSL) proudly celebrated the graduation of the Class of 2026, marking a significant milestone in the academic and professional development of its graduates. During the graduation ceremony, diplomas were awarded to 84 graduates – 74 from bachelor's degree programmes and 10 from the master's degree programme – who now join the extensive RGSL alumni community in Latvia and around the world. This special occasion brought together graduates, their families and friends, academic staff, partners, alumni, and other distinguished guests.
This year, diplomas were awarded to graduates of the following study programmes:
- Bachelor's Degree Programmes - Law and Business and Law and Diplomacy
- Master's Degree Programme - Business Law and Finance
The graduation ceremony was opened by RGSL Rector Laura Ratniece, who addressed the graduates and guests. Graduates of the bachelor's degree programmes in Law and Business and Law and Diplomacy were congratulated by Inese Freimane-Deksne, Bachelor's Programme Director, while graduates of the master's degree programme in Business Law and Finance were addressed by Associate Professor and Master's Programme Director Aleksandrs Fillers.
The graduates were also congratulated by Inese Lībiņa-Egnere, Associate Professor at the University of Latvia, Doctor of Law, former Minister of Justice of the Republic of Latvia, and Chair of the Human Rights and Public Affairs Committee of the Saeima, who highlighted the importance of knowledge and responsibility in contemporary society.
Inese Freimane-Deksne, LL.M., Bachelor's Programme Director:
“I have no doubt that you have the knowledge, skills, and potential needed to succeed in your future academic and professional careers. As you take your next steps, continue to believe in yourselves, think critically, strive for excellence, and challenge yourselves to grow. If you do so, I am confident that you will meet future opportunities with the same determination and success that have brought you to this day.”
Associate Professor and Master's Programme Director Aleksandrs Fillers:
"However hard it was, you made it through, you did it, and you can be proud of yourselves! And rest assured: we at RGSL are certainly proud of you! But today you can leave that hard work behind you. Today you can relax, enjoy yourselves and celebrate."
The importance of the RGSL community was also highlighted during the graduation ceremony. As RGSL Board Member Ieva Morica emphasized in her address to the graduates:
"Today is a reminder that none of us succeeds alone. Look at the people sitting around you. They are more than just classmates. Some may become lifelong friends, colleagues, business partners, or simply the people you call when life becomes complicated or if you would like to go out for a beer. Relationships help us go through the difficult moments and give meaning to the good ones. Keep your connections with one another alive. The RGSL community is your tribe."
This year, for the first time, RGSL, in cooperation with Montblanc, presented a special recognition award to its most outstanding graduates. We highly value our collaboration with Montblanc – a world-renowned brand associated with excellence, craftsmanship, and achievement. Through this partnership, graduates whose academic accomplishments reflect the highest standards of excellence were honoured for their achievements.
A new chapter now begins for our graduates, yet they will always remain part of the RGSL community – a community built on knowledge, professionalism, friendship, and a shared commitment to shaping a better future.
